Thank you for your interest in the Somneuro Lab's Toddler Sleep Study!
We are currently recruiting toddlers in the age range of 15 to 21 months to participate in our 3-part study on sleep in toddlers. This NIH-funded study will help us learn more about how sleep supports memory in early childhood. Children can start participating at either 16 or 21 months of age, with follow-up time points taking place 5 months and 10 months later.
Each time point consists of one overnight testing session and one daytime testing session. For the testing sessions, we will play a memory game with your child in the morning. You and your child would then come back to the lab in the evening for another round of the memory game and then you would both sleep in the lab overnight while your child wears a sleep cap. The next morning, your child’s memory would be tested one last time.
For each testing session, we would compensate you $200. If you decided to complete all three testing sessions, you would be compensated $600 in total. It is important that you know that if you agree to participate, you can absolutely stop the study at any time without any penalty.
For participants' convenience, our lab is equipped with a living room/waiting area, bathrooms, and kitchen, as well as a bedroom (with crib and beds) for your child’s overnight sleep. Parking would be reserved for you in front of our building (Life Sciences Labs, at 240 Thatcher Way). Other family members are welcome (but not required) to come along for your child’s testing sessions and we can provide “sibsitters” if you have other young children who may need extra supervision. Lastly, we can provide additional compensation for time spent traveling to and from our lab on the Amherst campus.
Please let us know if you are interested in learning more about this study or if you and your kiddo would like to participate! You can reach us at:
