Thank you for your interest in the UMass SUNRISE study. UMass is excited to represent the Northeast region of the United States in the International Study of Movement Behaviors in the Early Years. Along with other regions of the United States and other countries around the world, we are hoping to learn more about movement and sleep in young children and how these behaviors relate to other health behaviors and developmental measures, such as motor skills and cognition. ABOUT THE SCREENING PROCESS

Before you officially enroll in this study, we will be asking you to provide us with some screening information. It should take you no more than 5 minutes to complete. If your child is determined ineligible to participate, your completed questionnaire data will be deleted. (If you opt into being contacted about future studies, we will only keep your email address and name.) If your child is determined eligible to participate, the completed questionnaire will become part of the study materials. We will protect your information as confidential and safeguard it from unauthorized disclosure. Only research personnel will have access to the information contained in your screening questionnaire. If the screening questionnaire indicates that you are eligible to participate, we will proceed to obtaining your written informed consent for participation in this study. If you have any questions, please contact the primary investigator at cstlaurent@umass.edu before proceeding.

OVERVIEW OF THE UMASS STUDY

Key to this study is one measurement session, where we will complete some brief physical and cognitive assessments with your child, a parent questionnaire, and one week of activity and sleep tracking of your child with one or two wearable activity monitors. You and your child will be scheduled to come to our child-friendly, reserach laboratory on the UMass Amherst campus (first level of the of the Totman Building, room 6) for the measurement session. We will provide you with an addressed, postage-paid envelope the return the monitors to us when the week is up. We anticipate the risk of participating in this study to be low. You and your child will be compensated up to $20 for participation in this study and your child will receive a t-shirt.
